CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal: Along with regular studies, training has been organized for teachers under wellness activities, health and life skills development in schools. Two teachers from each school have been nominated as Arogya Doots and trained under the initiative. The training, organized by the Office of the Chief Medical and Health Officer, Bhopal, has covered 60 schools. The trained teachers will conduct various motivational activities among children every week in schools to promote health and life skills. These activities are expected to help students gain health-related knowledge and adopt healthy behaviours.

During the training, teachers are being prepared in health promotion, life skills and disease prevention. Children are being given information on health education, nutrition and life skills through engaging stories. The main subjects include mental health, nutrition, goals and career, adolescence, goal setting, interpersonal relationships, communication skills, problem solving, reproductive health, coping with stress and managing emotions.

The Ayushman Bharat-Umang School Health and Wellness Programme is being implemented in government and government-aided schools. Students from Classes 9 to 12 have been included in the Umang programme. The government has also started the Umang Kishor Helpline to address the problems of adolescents. Boys and girls can call 14425 to seek solutions to their problems.

Chief Medical and Health Officer, Bhopal, Dr Manish Sharma said that under the programme, students are being provided information on health and nutrition, encouraged to adopt healthy behaviours, and adolescent girls are being motivated to maintain hygiene during menstruation. The programme also includes life skills education, health check-ups for children, awareness about the use and benefits of iron and folic acid tablets, campaigns against tobacco and substance abuse, and information on the use of clean water, dental and eye diseases, and hygiene.
