“CNN Central News and Network – ITDC India ePress / ITDC News Bhopal:”Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, arrived in Bihar today to inaugurate Phase 3 of the Rajauli-Bakhtiyarpur 4-lane road project in Gaya. The one-day visit, scheduled for Thursday, underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and connectivity in the region.
The inauguration ceremony marked the completion of preparations, with officials conducting thorough inspections to ensure smooth proceedings and robust security measures at the venue. The Rajauli-Bakhtiyarpur Package 3 project, executed under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), was developed at an estimated cost of ₹3,700 crore.
In addition to inaugurating Phase 3, Minister Gadkari laid the foundation stone for Rajauli-Bakhtiyarpur Package 1, which is projected to cost around ₹300 crore. The event also saw the inauguration of the Gaya-Dobhi-Patna four-lane National Highway 83 (NH 83) and the associated toll plaza, further enhancing the region’s transportation infrastructure.
Minister Gadkari’s visit coincided with the 22nd session of the Bihar Economic Council, organized by Magadh University at the Mahabodhi Cultural Center in Bodh Gaya. The event, held in the center’s 2,000-capacity hall, focused on economic discussions aimed at fostering Bihar’s growth and development. The NHAI organized the event, which was set up opposite the main gate of Magadh University, ensuring accessibility and prominence.
Arriving at Gaya airport via a special flight from Nagpur, Gadkari highlighted the significance of the infrastructure projects in promoting economic progress and improving connectivity in Bihar. “The development of national highways is pivotal for the economic upliftment of the region, facilitating better movement of goods and people,” Gadkari remarked during his address.
Following the inaugurations, Minister Gadkari paid his respects at several important cultural and religious sites. He visited the Mahabodhi Temple and Vishnupad Temple to offer prayers and paid tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at his statue. Additionally, he visited the Mahabodhi Society in Bodhgaya, emphasizing the harmonious blend of development and cultural preservation.
Security for the events was meticulously planned and executed. District Magistrate Dr. Tyag Rajan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashish Bharti, and City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Prerna Kumar conducted comprehensive inspections of the venues. “The elaborate arrangements have been made, including a strong deployment of police personnel, magistrates, and officers to ensure a smooth flow of events and traffic management,” stated Ashish Bharti, SSP of Gaya.
A dedicated stage (pandal) was erected for the program, with officials ensuring all aspects of security and logistics were thoroughly reviewed. The successful execution of today’s events reflects the collaborative efforts of various government agencies to support and facilitate major infrastructure projects in Bihar.
Minister Gadkari’s visit not only celebrated the advancement of the Rajauli-Bakhtiyarpur road project but also reinforced the government’s ongoing dedication to improving Bihar’s infrastructure, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
