CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: “Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, engaged in a dialogue with the Lakhpati Didis in Vidisha on Sunday. Mr. Chouhan also unveiled a statue of the late former Union Minister Sushma Swaraj in Vidisha and held a meeting with district officials to discuss the region’s plans and activities.
On this occasion, Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that the Lakhpati Didis have not only lifted their families out of poverty but are also becoming role models for society. The Ministry of Rural Development has already created 11.1 million Lakhpati Didis, and now our goal is to create 30 million Lakhpati Didis. Mr. Chouhan expressed his firm belief that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 30 million women across the country will soon become Lakhpati Didis. He added that the sisters who have already become Lakhpati will now help other women become Lakhpati. A Lakhpati Didi means a woman whose annual income is more than one lakh rupees. Mr. Chouhan further mentioned that the Didis’ turnover has now exceeded ₹20,000 crores, and they will play a significant role in making India the third-largest economy.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized that the government’s goal is the development of villages, the welfare of women, and the upliftment of farmers. He mentioned that, to ensure every poor person has a roof over their head, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to build 30 million permanent houses—20 million in villages and 10 million in cities. This campaign will continue. Mr. Chouhan stated that the welfare of farmers is the top priority of the current central government led by Prime Minister Modi.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan mentioned that efforts are being made to ensure there is no shortage of urea and DAP for farmers. He outlined six priorities for the welfare of farmers: increasing production, reducing costs, ensuring fair prices for crops, compensating for losses, diversifying crops, and promoting natural farming. He noted that Prime Minister Modi recently dedicated 109 new crop seeds to farmers. These new quality seeds will reduce production costs. A millet seed has been released that matures in just 70 days. A rice seed has been released that requires 30% less water. Our scientists are continuously working and striving to bring research directly to the fields. To promote natural farming, farmers are practicing natural farming on a small portion of their land because we need to preserve this earth for future generations.”
