Flood situation worsens in Unnao, 43.64 lakh affected in Bihar

In Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao, the rising water level of the Ganga has led to waterlogging in low-lying areas and disrupted normal life. The administration has stepped up monitoring in vulnerable areas and is advising people to remain alert.

In Bihar, meanwhile, the spread of floods has continued to widen. According to a September 10 report, around 43.64 lakh people are affected across 14 districts of the state. The impact of floods is being seen in several districts, including Patna, Bhojpur, Saran, Vaishali, Bhagalpur, Begusarai and Buxar. Water has reached 527 gram panchayats in 85 blocks. The Ganga, Gandak, Kosi, Burhi Gandak and other rivers are flowing above the danger mark at several places. Five people have also died after drowning in floodwaters in Bhagalpur. The administration and disaster relief teams are carrying out rescue and relief operations in the affected areas.
