Boats ply on Unnao roads; rain alert issued for several states

CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Several areas in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao are facing waterlogging after continuous rain. In some places, water rose so high on the roads that people had to use boats for commuting. The waterlogging has caused difficulties for local residents and disrupted normal life.

Meanwhile, due to a weather system over the Bay of Bengal, rainfall activity is expected to increase in several parts of the country. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rain in Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. Heavy rain alerts have also been issued for parts of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana.

According to the IMD, Unnao is likely to see light rain or thunderstorms on September 22 and 23. Heavy rain or thunderstorms have been forecast for September 25 and 26. A warning has also been issued for rain and storms in eastern Uttar Pradesh in the coming days.

The Meteorological Department has advised people to exercise caution during rain and thunderstorms. People living in low-lying areas have been asked to move to safer places in case of waterlogging and follow advisories issued by the local administration.
