Sometimes, the true intentions of a country are revealed not through its weapons, but through the words of its commander-in-chief. Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir’s recent statement, where he called Kashmir “Pakistan’s jugular vein” and reiterated the two-nation theory, once again proves one thing—Pakistan’s intentions are only to provoke, divide, and shed blood.
Munir stated that “Hindu and Muslim life are different in every aspect,” and this notion should be instilled in future generations. This is not a military perspective, but an open advocacy for extremism. The idea expressed by Pakistan’s Army Chief that the two-nation theory should still survive is an attempt to revive a poison that divided the subcontinent in 1947 and continues to fuel violence today.
In light of these statements, when we consider the terrorist attack in Pahalgam—where 28 innocent lives were lost on April 22—one cannot help but ask: Is this just a coincidence, or ideologically driven, planned violence? The terrorists first confirmed the religious identity, then shot the non-Muslims—this is not terrorism, this is a jihadist massacre.
India has repeatedly extended olive branches for peace, but Pakistan’s military leadership continues to fuel hatred. This is not the language of a leader of a nuclear-armed nation; it resembles that of a fanatic cleric. What clearer sign do we need that Pakistan’s army is not a proponent of democracy, but of extremism?
The time has come to stop distorting words. Let’s call Islamic terrorism by its real name—Islamic terrorism. Pakistan’s army does not just fire bullets at the border; it attacks thoughts—India’s unity, its diversity, and its tolerance.
India must make its diplomacy more assertive. On international platforms, it must make it clear that such statements from within Pakistan are not just political; they are terrorist in nature. And Pakistan must be responded to in the same language—strong, precise, and without hesitation.
General Munir’s words are not just words; they are a warning—from a neighbor hiding the face of violence behind the mask of false friendship. The veil has been lifted. The question now is—are we ready to respond clearly?
