CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Union minister and BJP candidate Smriti Irani appears to be trailing in the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Irani is up against Congress leader K.L. Sharma in the seat where she is trailing by over 13,000 votes.
Smriti Irani had defeated Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Amethi seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. The BJP MP is seeking a third term from the constituency.
Senior BJP leader Maneka Gandhi was also trailing in Sultanpur seat in Uttar Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a lead of 20,000 votes over Congress’s Ajay Rai in Varanasi Lok Sabha seat in the state.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said the BJP-led NDA will win 80 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh. The state sends 80 MPs to
“Since the counting has begun, our all polling agents have reached the polling centres. After witnessing the enthusiasm in the elections, I am sure that the NDA alliance will definitely win elections on 80 seats,” he has been quoted as saying.
