CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Uttar Pradesh ministers Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary and Anil Rajbhar have responded to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s remarks on expressway construction and development in the state. The ministers criticised the previous SP government while highlighting the current administration’s claims about expanding Uttar Pradesh’s expressway network.

Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary alleged that road and expressway construction during the SP government was accompanied by corruption. He claimed that only one expressway was completed during Akhilesh Yadav’s tenure and said questions had been raised over its construction. These allegations are political claims and have not been independently established in the report.

Anil Rajbhar also criticised the former chief minister, alleging that roads constructed during the SP regime benefited the political family associated with the party. He said the current government’s infrastructure work was visible across Uttar Pradesh.

Rajbhar further highlighted the state government’s claim that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a major expressway state. According to his statement reported by Patrika, Uttar Pradesh accounts for 56% of the country’s expressways.

The ministers’ comments came in response to Akhilesh Yadav’s criticism of the condition and construction quality of expressways. Yadav has previously raised questions over road conditions and alleged shortcomings in infrastructure projects.

The exchange comes ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, with infrastructure, development and the record of successive state governments forming part of the ongoing political debate.
