CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Lucknow. Amid preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stepped up efforts to strengthen the organisation and sharpen its electoral strategy. Union Home Minister Amit Shah may attend the proposed state working committee meeting in Lucknow on October 30 and 31. The meeting is being seen as important for preparations linked to Mission-2027. The party faces the challenge of bringing disgruntled workers along, addressing organisational weaknesses and strengthening its grip amid changed political equations in different regions.
Addressing workers’ resentment is a priority for the BJP, as dissatisfaction within the organisation has emerged as an important challenge. Some workers have expressed unhappiness over organisational appointments at various levels. Complaints have also surfaced in several places that new faces have been given priority over old and experienced workers. In such a situation, it will be important for the party leadership to restore workers’ confidence and ensure better coordination within the organisation.
The BJP is also preparing to increase activity at the booth level. The party considers booth management and the role of grassroots workers crucial to its electoral strategy. According to reports, Amit Shah may interact with booth presidents and Shakti Kendra coordinators in the coming days. The party is also focusing on analysing booth-wise results of elections held since 2014 to identify weak areas and activate the organisation there.
Caste equations and allies are also important. After the BJP’s performance in Uttar Pradesh in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party faces the challenge of strengthening support among different social groups. Amid opposition parties’ politics linked to caste participation and social justice, the BJP will have to focus on retaining its social base. In addition, coordination with NDA allies and addressing resentment against public representatives at the local level are also being seen as part of the election preparations.
The proposed meeting may see participation by senior party office-bearers, public representatives and leaders linked to the organisation. Discussions may be held on organisational preparedness, booth management and priorities before the elections. However, the detailed official agenda of the meeting has not been made public. Amit Shah’s possible visit is being seen as an important step in the BJP’s election preparations. The challenge before the party now will be how to convert strategic meetings and organisational changes into grassroots activity, so that workers’ resentment is addressed and the organisation appears more united before the elections.
