Lucknow. There is major relief before Diwali for nearly 1.28 lakh Shiksha Mitras in Uttar Pradesh. The state government has released a budget of ₹460.23 crore for payment of the increased honorarium. The amount has been released for payment of honorarium for September and October 2026.

The government has increased the monthly honorarium of Shiksha Mitras from ₹10,000 to ₹18,000. This means an increase of ₹8,000 per month. The revised rate is effective from April 2026. With this decision, Shiksha Mitras will receive nearly 80 percent more honorarium than earlier.

In the released budget, around ₹230.11 crore has been provided for September and the same amount for October. Funds have been allocated district-wise, and the officials concerned have been directed to ensure payment of the honorarium into the accounts of Shiksha Mitras.

The government’s move will directly benefit 1,27,841 Shiksha Mitras working in the state. Receiving the increased honorarium for two months together is expected to provide them financial relief during the festival period. The government has described it as an important step in the interest of Shiksha Mitras.
