A major uproar broke out during a meeting of the Agra Municipal Corporation House on Friday when a heated argument began between councillors of the BJP and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). During the protest, BSP councillor Yashpal Singh was accused of breaking a microphone. After this, Mayor Hemlata Diwakar ordered his expulsion from the House proceedings for the entire day.

From the beginning of the meeting, BSP councillors raised objections over the municipal corporation’s arrangements and public issues. BSP councillor Sunil Sharma sat in the well of the House wearing a black band over his eyes. Other BSP councillors also joined the sit-in in his support. During this, sharp exchanges took place between BJP and BSP councillors, and the atmosphere in the House became tense.

The dispute escalated further after the microphone-breaking incident. In protest against the expulsion of the BSP councillor, other party councillors sat on a dharna inside the House. To bring the situation under control, the mayor directed that the police and task force be called. The municipal corporation proceedings remained disrupted due to the uproar.

Amid the political confrontation in the meeting, the councillors’ protest and the expulsion action remained a major point of discussion.
