CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Sagar/ Uprooting and throwing the statue of Dr. Harisingh Gaur, a great philanthropist and symbol of the sentiments of the Bundelkhand region, into a pile of garbage is not only an insult to Dr. Gaur but also an insult to the sentiments of the entire Bundelkhand region. The administration should immediately reinstall Dr. Gaur’s statue respectfully at its original location at Civil Line Square.
This demand was made by Triloki Nath Katare, former president of the Sagar University Student Union and former president of the Municipal Corporation, and Rekha Chaudhary, former president of the District Congress. They described the silence of BJP leaders and representatives on this issue as extremely shameful. They said that the so-called BJP leaders and representatives, who advocate for conferring the Bharat Ratna to Dr. Harisingh Gaur, the founder of Sagar University who gave recognition to Sagar and the Bundelkhand region worldwide, are surprisingly silent on this insult to Dr. Gaur. This clearly indicates that a conspiracy has been started to erase Dr. Gaur’s name from Sagar, and in the future, the university’s name will also be changed to that of a BJP leader.
Former student union president Triloki Nath Katare said that 21 years ago, senior BJP leader and former Union Minister of the then Congress government, Suresh Pachouri, unveiled and inaugurated Dr. Harisingh Gaur’s statue at Civil Line Square with public support. However, under the BJP government, the statue was secretly removed overnight under the pretext of traffic convenience and thrown into a pile of garbage. The people of Sagar will not tolerate this great insult to Dr. Gaur by the administration in any form and will not hesitate to launch an aggressive public movement to protect Dr. Gaur’s dignity and honor. Former student union president Triloki Nath Katare and Avadhesh Tomar, president of the Dr. Gaur Statue Installation Committee, warned the administration to immediately reinstall Dr. Gaur’s statue at its original location.”
