CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Washington. The United States has sent all its bomber aircraft deployed at Britain’s RAF Fairford airbase back to the US. The Pentagon has confirmed that US bombers stationed at the airbase, including B-1 aircraft, have been returned to their home bases.

The move comes amid an investigation into a suspected terror plot around the British military base. Last week, five British nationals were arrested near Fairford airbase on suspicion linked to explosives and terrorism. Police examined three suspect vehicles in which petrol was found, but no explosives were recovered. All five accused were later released on bail. The investigation is continuing, and officials have said they all remain under scrutiny.

After this, a British-Iranian dual national was also arrested on suspicion of preparing terrorist activity. He was also later released on bail. British officials have said they are investigating a possible Iranian role in the case, while Iran has rejected the allegations. No final proof of Iran’s involvement has yet been made public.

US President Donald Trump had earlier expressed surprise over the suspects being granted bail, saying he would not have made such a decision. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also indicated the possible role of a foreign party in the matter. Fairford airbase has been used by US bombers for military operations against Iran, increasing its security and strategic importance.
