Preparations are being made in Uttar Pradesh to correct the voter list and add the names of people left out before the upcoming Assembly elections in 2027. Under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign, emphasis will be placed on identifying eligible voters through door-to-door visits. ASHA workers will also be involved in this process.
Under the proposed campaign, ASHA workers will visit homes in their work areas and identify women. During this exercise, information will be collected about women whose names are not entered in the voter list or who have been left out of the list for any reason. Eligible women will also be informed about the process for getting their names included in the voter list.
The objective of the campaign is to ensure that no eligible citizen is deprived of the right to vote. There is also a plan to speed up the process of adding names to the voter list, making corrections and rectifying wrong entries.
Through this initiative, efforts will be made to increase outreach to women voters and make the voter list more accurate. Preparations are being made at the relevant level regarding the detailed procedure and responsibilities linked to implementation of the campaign.
