The Uttar Pradesh government has given government employees and pensioners the benefit of an increase in dearness allowance ahead of Diwali. The state government has approved a 3 percent increase in dearness allowance. After this, employees’ dearness allowance will rise to 63 percent. The increased rates will be deemed effective from the month of July.
Around 16 lakh employees and pensioners in the state will benefit from the government’s decision. The increase in dearness allowance will raise employees’ monthly salaries and pensions. Based on the effective payment date from July, employees may also receive the benefit of arrears.
The increase in dearness allowance is aimed at providing financial relief to government employees and pensioners amid rising inflation. Employees had long been expecting a revision in dearness allowance. The government’s decision will provide additional financial support to lakhs of families.
