CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of the 70th Foundation Day of Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the “Wash on Vehicle (VAH)” initiative, including the launch of its mobile app, and announced its implementation across all districts of the state.

In Bhopal district, the successful execution of the VAH initiative is being led by the Chief Executive Officer, District Panchayat, Bhopal, giving a new identity to rural cleanliness. Previously, community and institutional toilets were underutilized due to irregular cleaning and unhygienic conditions, but the implementation of VAH has increased public awareness about rural sanitation.

All 479 villages in the district have been categorized into 19 clusters, and 10 Swachhta Sathi (cleanliness volunteers) were appointed for each cluster to ensure regular cleaning and maintenance.

So far, in Bhopal district, a total of 1,400 community, institutional, and household toilets have been registered for cleaning. Out of these, 866 toilets were successfully cleaned by Swachhta Sathi volunteers, including 539 community/institutional and household toilets, generating an income of ₹86,300 for the volunteers.

This program not only promotes cleanliness but also provides employment opportunities and recognition for Swachhta Sathi volunteers. Additionally, a Flying Squad has been appointed at the district level for regular monitoring and supervision of the VAH initiative, ensuring effective implementation across the region.
