CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The third match of the three-match T20 series between India and Afghanistan is being played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on September 17, 2026. India have already sealed the series by winning the first two matches. In this situation, discussion has intensified over young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi getting a place in the final eleven.

Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav was included in the Indian squad for the Afghanistan series, but he did not get a place in the playing eleven in the first two matches. In both matches, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson opened the innings. Now that India have already won the series, the team management may rest some players and give Vaibhav a chance to make his international debut.

Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer has also suggested including Vaibhav in the third T20. He said Vaibhav could be tried as an opener by resting Ishan Kishan or other players. However, his place in the final eleven has not yet been officially confirmed. For Vaibhav, this could be his first international match for India’s senior team. Earlier, he had come into the spotlight with his batting in domestic cricket and the IPL. The final decision will be known at the toss, when India’s playing eleven is announced.
