Lucknow. On the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a message to the people of the state, appealing for strengthening social harmony, equality and fraternity. He urged young people to adopt the ideals of Lord Shri Ram in their lives and to take a pledge not to discriminate against anyone on the basis of caste, class or social identity.

In his message, the Chief Minister said that only when the walls of high and low are removed from people’s minds can a truly harmonious society be built.

The Ramayana gives a message of equality and fraternity

The Chief Minister described Maharishi Valmiki as a guide and source of inspiration not only for Indian culture but for all humanity. He said that through the Ramayana, Maharishi Valmiki taught society the lessons of truth, dharma, dignity and devotion to duty, which remain relevant even today.

Citing the example of the friendship between Lord Shri Ram and Nishadraj Guha, Yogi Adityanath said the episode inspires people to rise above social identity and adopt a spirit of affection, respect and equality. According to him, a society based on love, justice and mutual respect alone can lay the foundation for strong social unity.

Emphasis on preserving Maharishi Valmiki’s legacy

The Chief Minister referred to efforts for the conservation and development of places associated with Maharishi Valmiki. These include the development of his place of meditation in Chitrakoot and work related to the conservation and tourism development of Maharishi Valmiki Ashram in Bithoor. He also described the naming of Ayodhya’s international airport after Maharishi Valmiki as a step honouring his legacy.

Reference to uplift of deprived sections

Yogi Adityanath said that for social harmony, it is necessary that deprived and backward sections receive respect, security and equal opportunities for development. He mentioned efforts for the welfare of sanitation workers, granting revenue village status to Vantangiya villages, and ensuring that government schemes reach Musahar, Kol, Tharu and nomadic communities.

The Chief Minister appealed to young people to draw inspiration from the teachings of Maharishi Valmiki and the ideals of Lord Shri Ram and stay away from discrimination. He stressed adopting social justice, equality and fraternity to build a society in which every person receives respect and equal opportunities to move forward.
