CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Patna / Khagaria: Concerned over the recent attacks on the Hindu community and reports of forced migration in Murshidabad, West Bengal, activists of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) expressed deep worry. An emergency meeting was convened on Monday at the Shri Ram Janki Temple near the station premises in Khagaria, with officials of the VHP and Bajrang Dal in attendance.

Presiding over the meeting, Nitin Kumar, VHP’s Regional Joint Special Liaison Head, said,

“Despite the brutal killing of three Hindus in violence over Waqf land in Murshidabad, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s silence is shameful, mysterious, and condemnable. Her continued appeasement of minorities has portrayed her image as that of a modern-day Jinnah.”

He further alleged that the West Bengal government has rendered the police ineffective, comparing the situation to how the army was restrained in Kashmir.

VHP District Secretary Sanjay Verma appealed to the central government to take immediate action to curb the violence and restore law and order by imposing President’s Rule in the state. He warned that if the situation persists, the exodus of Hindus and the prevailing fear among them will become a serious concern for the entire country.

Present on the occasion were District Treasurer Manish Gupta, Bajrang Dal District Co-convener Abhimanyu Kumar, City Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, temple priest Umeshwar Pathak, Vinod Kumar, Ranjeet Sinha, and dozens of other activists. All unanimously demanded strict action from the central government and warned that if the situation does not improve, a nationwide agitation will be launched.
