CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: As part of the NSS (National Service Scheme) Foundation Fortnight, the NSS unit of Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU) organized various activities such as blood donation, voluntary labor, and the “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign among hundreds of youth. It is noteworthy that, in celebration of its foundation, the university organizes community and cultural activities within the campus and adopted villages with the aim of “personality development of students through social service.” As part of this, a blood donation camp was held on the university campus where around 40 volunteers donated blood for those in need. Under the “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign, the primary school premises in the adopted village of Gokulakundi were cleaned, and students and village children were given Dettol soap with instructions to wash their hands before eating.
Various Competitions Organized: As part of the fortnight, the university also organized several competitions including poster-making, slogan writing, rangoli, and essay writing on various themes. The winners were awarded trophies and certificates by the guests.
The fortnight concluded with vibrant cultural performances by NSS volunteers. The event’s chief guest was Anant Saxena, Program Coordinator of Barkatullah University, Bhopal, while special guest Rahul Singh Parihar and distinguished educator Amitabh Saxena, who chaired the event, were also present. Director Rahul Singh Parihar emphasized that the National Service Scheme is not just a government initiative but a mission that starts with a resolve to bring about positive change in society.
Anant Saxena, the chief guest, stated that NSS certificates benefit students both in their careers and character development, urging all students to get involved. Amitabh Saxena, presiding over the event, remarked that both education and social service are essential for the holistic development of students. Education nurtures values, while social service provides the opportunity to practice those values in real life. These two are two sides of the same coin. The program was coordinated by Program Officer Gabbar Singh, with a vote of thanks delivered by Program Officer Rekha Gupta. The event was hosted by Vivek Bhaskar and Shivendra Rajput.
