Suresh, Vice-Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, was honored with the Rashtriya Bhasha Bhushan Award. In a grand event held at Blue Star Hotel in Datia on Friday, District Superintendent of Police and author Virendra Mishra presented the prestigious annual award to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Suresh, organized by the All India Literary Conference. Last year, Vikas Dave, Director of the Madhya Pradesh Sahitya Parishad, was honored with this award.
Prof. Suresh established the Department of Indian Languages at the university and introduced a bachelor’s program in Hindi translation and technology. During his tenure as the Director General of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, Prof. Suresh initiated new courses in Marathi, Malayalam, Sanskrit, and Urdu. He also took the initiative to start a Hindi program at the Jammu campus of the institution. Although a native Malayalam speaker, Suresh is known as a proficient speaker of Hindi and regularly writes columns in Hindi for various newspapers. He also participated in the World Hindi Conference in Mauritius.
As the Senior Advisory Editor at Doordarshan News, Prof. Suresh launched the world’s first Sanskrit television magazine, Vartavali, during his tenure. On this occasion, Chief Guest Mishra and Conference President Jagat Sharma praised Suresh’s commitment and dedication to Indian languages. In his vote of thanks, Vice-Chancellor Suresh expressed concern over the deterioration of language in journalism and emphasized the necessity for journalists, especially journalism students, to study literature. Prior to this, Vice-Chancellor Suresh had been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Award from the Central Hindi Institute of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the Kashi Award.
