CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Rajasthan : India’s Vice President has raised serious concerns over the rising influence of coaching centres, particularly in Kota, Rajasthan—widely known as the country’s coaching hub. Addressing students and educators during a recent visit, he described many coaching centres as a “black hole” for young talent, arguing that they suppress creativity and independent thinking.

The Vice President emphasized that the obsession with competitive exams has led to an unhealthy academic environment, where students are forced into rigid routines that prioritize rote learning over intellectual curiosity. While acknowledging the role of coaching in guiding students, he stressed that true education should nurture holistic development, critical thinking, and emotional well-being.

His remarks come amid rising cases of student stress, burnout, and mental health issues in coaching hubs like Kota. Educational experts and child psychologists have long warned against the pressure cooker culture in such cities, which often overlooks individual interests and alternative career paths.

The Vice President urged educational institutions and parents to re-evaluate success metrics and promote balanced learning environments. He called for policy-level reforms that place student welfare above exam results, reigniting the national conversation on the future of education in India.
