ITDC India ePress/Bhopal MP: Department of Electrical Engineering, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology Bhopal #MANIT is organizing a Five-Days Faculty Development Program on Electric Vehicles sponsored by AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy during 28th December 2020 to 1st January 2021. The program aims to cover present state of Electric Vehicle technology, most used Machines and Controllers, EV Charging Technologies, Battery Management System, integration of vehicles with grid, security and privacy issues, during five days, told in press release. Electric vehicles (EVs) are considered essential in reducing green-house gas emissions and in facilitating e-mobility through the high penetration of renewable energy sources. Charging–discharging coordination between electric vehicles and the power grid is gaining interest as a de-carbonization tool and provider of ancillary services. In electric vehicle applications, the aggregator acts as the intelligent mediator between the power grid and the vehicle. Technological advances in EVs have led to the concept of an EV aggregator in the power grid, offering attractive, and competitive controlled charging–discharging strategies. EVs can act as an energy storage system to shift load from peak to off-peak hours, and hence help in reducing electricity bills. Vehicle to Grid (V2G) enabling technologies, such as batteries, act as storage devices that supply power during peak demand in the grid. Keeping in view the above objectives, the FDP was inaugurated on 28th December 2020 and shall continue till 1st January 2021. Prof Sanjeev Singh, the coordinator of the FDP has presented the trends and challenges of the EVs to the participants. Prof Manisha Dubey, Dean-Institutional Development and International Relations emphasized on the application of artificial Intelligence for handy operation of the EVs. Prof Tripta Thakur, the Head of Electrical Engineering Department discussed about the impact of EVs on society in terms of environment and noise pollution reduction. There are 141 participants including faculty members and research students from various engineering and technology institutions across the India. Many renowned academicians from IITs, NITs and Leading Institutions are sharing their experiences during these five days. Indian and foreign Industrial Experts are also presenting the recent scenario of research in Electric Vehicle technology. This program shall surely result in the enhancement of knowledge to the participants. • To plan and help in imparting quality technical education in the country and to support technical institutions in fostering research, innovation and entrepreneurship through training in various emerging areas. • This is also to mention that these ATAL academies are announced where AICTE Camp offices are situated It is pertinent to mention here that while addressing in the Conference of Vice Chancellors and Directors of technical institutions on 11.9.2019 in the Auditorium of AICTE, New Delhi, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Hon’ble Union Minister, Human Resource Development in the presence of Shri Sanjay Dhotre, State Minister of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India appreciated the establishment of four ATAL Academies and announced to establish 11 more ATAL Academies throughout the country.
