CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal/ Ujjain: After the completion of all three phases of the selection process of All India Radio (Akashvani) Ujjain, training for the selected announcers began on Monday at the School of Continuing Education campus of Vikram University. The training is being conducted at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, where participants are being introduced to the functioning of radio broadcasting and the glorious tradition of Akashvani.

On the very first day of the training, participants were taught that an announcer does not merely read information but gives voice to the soul of a program. Trainers emphasized that Akashvani is not just a broadcasting institution, but a medium that provides direction to society and delivers credible information. The voice of an announcer creates trust and a sense of belonging in the minds of listeners, and radio programs are deeply connected to society and culture.

Separate sessions were organized for Yuva Vani, Gram Sabha, and Mahila Sabha announcers. In these sessions, the complete process from the beginning to the end of a program was explained. For example, the voice of an announcer should express enthusiasm and warmth at the beginning, while maintaining dignity and balance at the conclusion. The style of language also varies for each program—simple and rural for Gram Sabha, sensitive and motivational for Mahila Sabha, and modern and energetic for Yuva Vani.

The presence of experienced announcers made the training even more inspiring. Sanjeev Malviya from Indore, Purushottam from the Bhopal center, and Ujjain in-charge Anamika Chakravarti shared their experiences with the participants. They highlighted announcers’ conduct, broadcasting discipline, and ways to connect with listeners. Participants were informed that all programs broadcast from Ujjain would be available on FM 102.5 MHz, including Gram Sabha, Mahila Sabha, and Yuva Vani, which would serve as platforms to spread local culture, language, and social messages widely.

Program Officer Rajesh Bhatt provided details about the training and Akashvani’s guidelines. He said that announcers are the key to the success of any program, and since the nature of each program is different, special attention must be given to word choice and style. The enthusiasm of the trainees was evident on the very first day, as everyone actively participated and showed deep interest in learning the nuances of announcing. In the coming days, technical training, studio management, and program production will also be taught, further enriching the tradition of Akashvani.
