CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Two-Day National Seminar on “Dairy Development in Madhya Pradesh: Opportunities and Challenges” Begins at Vikram University, Ujjain

The two-day national seminar on “Dairy Development in Madhya Pradesh: Opportunities and Challenges”, jointly organized by Vikram University, Ujjain, and the Indian Dairy Association (IDA) – Western Region, commenced at the Golden Jubilee Auditorium.

On this occasion, Chief Guest MLA Anil Jain Kalukheda stated, “Since 1998, India has been the largest milk producer in the world, and Madhya Pradesh surpasses the national average in per capita milk availability. The state government aims to make Madhya Pradesh the ‘National Dairy Capital,’ and this seminar marks a historic step in that direction.”

Vice-Chancellor Arpan Bhardwaj, in his presidential address, said, “Dairy technology is not just a technical field but also an integral part of rural development, women empowerment, and the cooperative movement. The Dairy Technology Institute announced by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will be a milestone in this regard.”

JB Prajapati, Chairman of IDA West Zone, highlighted, “India’s dairy industry is currently valued at ₹19,000 billion and is expected to reach ₹57,000 billion by 2033. This sector is vital for nutrition, health, and employment generation.” He described the establishment of the Animal Dairy and Cow Rearing Department and the MoU with NDDB as visionary steps by the Madhya Pradesh government.

Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Gupta set a target to raise milk production in Madhya Pradesh to 20 million tonnes, stating that making the Dairy Technology Institute the best in the country is his dream.

The inaugural session was attended by IDA Secretary Madhav Patgaonkar, Registrar Anil Kumar Sharma, Head of the Pharmacy Department Kamlesh Dashora, along with scientists, administrators, technical experts, students, and farmer representatives from across the country. The program began with Saraswati Puja and Vandana.

In the upcoming sessions of the seminar, there will be in-depth deliberations on technical aspects and policy formulation related to the dairy sector.
