CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal/ Ujjain : Vikram University, Ujjain, in collaboration with Sevadharam Ashram, organized the “Urja Pravah” program under the Drug-Free India Campaign, where students and teachers pledged to dedicate one day a week to public service. The event was held in the Golden Jubilee Auditorium under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Arpan Bhardwaj.

The chief guest, Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Vice-Chancellor of NS-Yoga Institute, Bengaluru, and a renowned yoga expert, inspired the youth to stay away from addiction and emphasized the importance of yoga. He stated that the active participation of universities is essential in making Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Drug-Free India” campaign a success.

Prof. Bhardwaj praised Sudhir Bhai Goyal, the founder of Sevadharam Ashram, for his social service initiatives and encouraged students to visit the ashram to experience humanitarian sensitivity and selfless service firsthand. He also highlighted the role of NCC and NSS, stating that these organizations have contributed to nurturing patriotic and service-oriented citizens.

Dr. Nagendra explained that addiction cannot be cured by medicine alone, but through yoga, self-discipline, and lifestyle changes. He suggested that every university’s NSS unit should incorporate yoga-based activities. Citing the example of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, he mentioned how this initiative has been adopted across 1,400 colleges under it.

In conclusion, the Vice-Chancellor administered a pledge to students and faculty members to stay away from drugs and to encourage others to do the same. The program witnessed active participation from a large number of students, NCC officers, university administration, and faculty members.
