CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: Vinhomes Green Paradise, being developed in the Can Gio area of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, has reached an important milestone towards global recognition. The project has entered the public voting stage of New7Wonders’ global initiative, ‘7 Wonders of Future Cities’. The campaign aims to recognise cities and urban development projects around the world that are shaping the future of cities on the basis of sustainable development, modern technology, innovation and human-centred facilities.
Special place among more than 260 global participants The campaign began on 31 October 2025. More than 260 cities and projects from around the world have applied to participate. Vinhomes Green Paradise is the first project to join the campaign as an official participant. The next list will now be prepared through public voting.
Seven urban wonders to be announced in 2027 The voting process will run from November 2026 to April 2027. In this stage, a longlist of 77 participants will be prepared, from which New7Wonders will select 28 projects for the next stage on the basis of prescribed criteria. From May to October 2027, voting among these 28 participants will take place in three stages. After this, on 31 October 2027, the seven selected urban wonders of ‘7 Wonders of Future Cities’ will be announced.
Focus on environment, technology and human-centred development The project, proposed over an area of about 2,870 hectares, has been planned on three key foundations. These include environmental and nature conservation, smart city technology and human-centred development. The project envisages the use of technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data and artificial intelligence. It also plans to prioritise green areas, water bodies and modern civic facilities. The project is located near Can Gio’s mangrove biosphere reserve, making environmental protection and ecological balance important issues in its development.
Vietnam’s urban development vision on a global platform Participation in this campaign will give Vietnam an opportunity to present its modern urban development plans and the concept of sustainable cities on an international platform. However, inclusion in global voting is not a guarantee of final selection. The project will have to go through the prescribed stages and selection process to move forward.
