CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee secretary and OBC Congress in-charge for the Indore and Ujjain divisions, Vinod Sen, has raised serious questions over the education system in the state and the country, saying that India’s education system has reached the ICU. He said the purpose of education should be to build the future of young people, but under the present system, education and recruitment processes have become trapped in corruption, paper leaks and the grip of education mafias.
Sen said that despite being the world’s youngest country, India is facing the biggest challenge of unemployment. Lakhs of young people work hard for years, take expensive coaching, pay application fees and invest their time and resources in preparing for competitive examinations, but repeated paper leaks, recruitment scams and examination irregularities destroy their dreams, he said.
He said that irregularities repeatedly coming to light in prestigious examinations such as UPSC, SSC, Railways, banking and NEET have completely broken the trust of young people. The examination system is no longer becoming a medium for selecting talent, but a system that disappoints and demoralises youth, he alleged. Young people put in the hard work and also suffer the consequences, while the guilty mafias and the corrupt system escape, he said.
Vinod Sen said today’s youth are not merely demanding employment; they want a system that respects their hard work, ensures transparency and does not allow their future to be played with. The government must answer who will take responsibility for this failed system if students study, appear for competitive examinations and still have no guarantee for their future, he said.
On behalf of the OBC Congress, Sen demanded that:
A strict and accountable mechanism be established to make all competitive examinations free from paper leaks.
An annual calendar for recruitment and competitive examinations be issued.
A high-level and impartial investigation be conducted into education mafias and their protectors involved in paper leaks and recruitment scams.
The guilty be given the strictest legal punishment.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should take moral responsibility and resign.
He said that if the government remains silent even now on this serious issue, more paper leaks will take place in the coming time, recruitments will remain stalled and the future of crores of young people will keep moving towards darkness.
To raise the voice of young people in an organised manner, the Congress party has launched the Save Education, Save the Future of Youth campaign. Under this, the Students’ Echo chapter is being started. The number 9873036161 has been issued for joining the campaign, where young people can register their participation by giving a missed call. The Congress party will strongly raise the issues, struggles and rights of young people and build a people’s movement on education and employment issues.
