CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Visa and ISG have introduced Visa Payment Passkey at Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026, showcasing a passwordless authentication solution designed to make digital card payments more secure and convenient. The technology uses FIDO-based authentication and allows consumers to verify online payments through their device’s built-in security features, including biometrics, PINs or screen locks.
Visa Payment Passkey links a consumer’s Visa card with a registered device and uses cryptographic authentication instead of traditional passwords or one-time passwords (OTPs). The private authentication key remains on the consumer’s device, while the system uses public-key cryptography to verify transactions.
The solution is designed to reduce friction during online checkout while strengthening protection against phishing, interception and other payment-related threats. Visa says the passkey can support card-on-file payments, manual card entry and digital wallets across participating merchants and payment service providers.
At GFF 2026, Visa also showcased agentic-commerce payment experiences with banking, fintech and merchant partners, demonstrating how authenticated payments can be incorporated into AI-driven shopping and booking journeys.
The launch highlights the financial technology industry’s ongoing focus on combining stronger digital authentication with faster and simpler payment experiences.
