CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President and Khajuraho MP Vishnudutt Sharma visited Khajuraho, where he offered prayers at Matangeshwar Mahadev Temple and inaugurated the Khajuraho Fair. He also participated in the cleanliness drive at the fair and performed a ritualistic worship of the crown for Lord Shiva’s wedding procession at Matangeshwar Mahadev Temple before attending the Khajuraho International Dance Festival.

Before this, Vishnudutt Sharma attended the mass wedding ceremony of 251 brides, organized by Peethadhishwar Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham in Gadha, Chhatarpur district, where he extended his best wishes to the newlywed couples for a successful married life.

Khajuraho’s Development and Promotion of Local Artists

Vishnudutt Sharma appreciated the Madhya Pradesh government’s initiative to establish a Film City in Khajuraho, aiming to provide better opportunities for local artists. He emphasized that Khajuraho is a UNESCO World Heritage City, attracting tourists from around the world. Efforts are being made to further enhance Khajuraho’s prominence, ensuring that local artists receive larger platforms. In addition to promoting artists, the initiative is also focused on employment generation in the region.

Vishnudutt Sharma stated that Khajuraho is a center of religion, culture, and spirituality, and the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government is dedicated to enhancing its historical and cultural grandeur. The Khajuraho Dance Festival is world-famous, and local artists have been included in this prestigious event. Furthermore, the government is making arrangements for professional training programs for local artists in Khajuraho.

Efforts to Make Khajuraho a Clean City

After inaugurating the Khajuraho Fair at Matangeshwar Mahadev Temple, Vishnudutt Sharma also participated in the cleanliness drive, emphasizing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated a revolutionary movement to instill a sense of cleanliness across the nation. Given that Khajuraho is a major global tourist destination, steps are being taken to improve its cleanliness ranking. He urged everyone to contribute to maintaining cleanliness, highlighting the collective responsibility of all citizens.

The event was attended by State Minister Dilip Ahirwar, District President Chandrabhan Singh Gautam, MLA Arvind Pateria, Municipal Council President Arun Awasthi, along with several party officials and workers.
