CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the eve of the 40th anniversary of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, a candlelight tribute was paid to honor the departed souls of the victims. The program witnessed participation from Madhya Pradesh’s Minister of Sports, Youth, and Cooperatives, Vishvas Kailash Sarang, Mayor Malti Rai, and BMHRRC’s Acting Director Manisha Srivastava, alongside hospital staff and students. They paid homage with tearful eyes and observed a two-minute silence in memory of the victims.

As BMHRRC enters its 25th year, the Postal Department will release a special cover to commemorate the occasion. Additionally, a multi-faith prayer meeting will be organized, and senior gas tragedy survivors will be honored.

Following the candlelighting ceremony on Monday, Minister Sarang and the Mayor distributed health kits to hospitalized patients. Kits were distributed across all wards. Minister Sarang remarked that the gas tragedy of the night of December 2-3 remains a horrific event for humanity. It taught us that while industrialization and development are important, nothing is more valuable than human life. He shared that his family, like many others, had to flee their home that dreadful night.

Multi-Faith Prayer and Honor Ceremony on December 3:

On December 3, at 8:30 AM, a multi-faith prayer will be held near the “Shraddhanjali and Asha” memorial at BMHRRC. Religious leaders from various faiths will read their respective scriptures. Rotary Club and Mahaveer International will donate blankets for distribution among poor patients in the wards.
