CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A national-level, multi-dimensional cultural and intellectual programme is being organised in Nalanda, linking India’s linguistic, literary, cultural and intellectual heritage with contemporary contexts. Organised by Vishwarang, Bhopal, the national programme will see participation from educationists, litterateurs, artists, translators, researchers and cultural workers from different parts of the country.
Representatives of leading educational institutions, including Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, and Nalanda University, as well as C. V. Raman University, Vaishali, AISECT University, Hazaribagh, Scope Global Skills University, Bhopal, C. V. Raman University, Bilaspur, C. V. Raman University, Khandwa, Gauhati University, IIT Kharagpur, Tripura University, Mizoram University, Delhi University, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Calcutta University, the Film and Television Institute of India and Amity University, Gurugram, will be present at the event. From the fields of literature and culture, several eminent writers and thinkers, including Nand Kishore Acharya, Arun Kamal, Alka Saraogi, A. Aravindakshan, Devendra Raj Ankur, Jitendra Srivastava, Jayant Parmar, Prafulla Shiledar, Yatindra Mishra, Soma Bandyopadhyay and Anant Vijay, will participate in the programme.
Nalanda has not been chosen for the programme only because of its historical importance. Nalanda has been an important symbol of the historic exchange of knowledge, ideas and culture between the Indian subcontinent and Asia. Taking this historical background as the basis, the programme will examine how India’s multilingual and multicultural heritage can become the foundation for new cultural dialogue and intellectual cooperation in the present era.
A key dimension of the programme will be Indian knowledge traditions and education. A special session will be held on Nalanda’s educational vision, research, multidisciplinary studies and India’s intellectual tradition. Through this, the possible dialogue between ancient Indian educational experience and contemporary higher education will be discussed. Indian languages have been given special importance in the programme. Discussions will be held on the shared cultural ground of South Asian languages, the mutual relationship among Indian languages and the cultural unity inherent in linguistic diversity. The languages and literature of Northeast India have also been given a special place in the programme.
As part of the programme, a special discussion on Rabindranath Tagore’s cultural consciousness and his cultural contribution, along with a painting exhibition and painting workshop, will also be organised in Patna. According to Vishwarang Director General Santosh Choubey, the core objective of the programme is not merely to remember the glory of the past, but to view India’s historical cultural and intellectual heritage in relation to the challenges of the present and the future. Nalanda provides a historical ground for this dialogue, where the long-term links of knowledge, language and culture between India and Asia can be viewed together.
