CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The eighth edition of Vishwarang, associated with Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, will be held from October 3 to 8, 2026, in Vaishali, Patna and Nalanda in Bihar. The six-day event will feature dialogue on language, literature, culture and the arts in the context of Northeast India and Southeast Asian countries.

The first phase of the programme will begin on October 3 at C.V. Raman University, Vaishali, where invited guests will visit the university and interact with students. A visit to the Vaishali Stupa will follow. The main programme will be inaugurated on October 4 at the Patna Museum. The day will include a screening of the Vishwarang film, a lecture on the cultural consciousness of South and Southeast Asian countries, and a screening of Satyajit Ray’s “The Inner Eye” under the 8th Tagore National Art Symposium. A special exhibition on Rabindranath Tagore’s paintings and a discussion on contemporary Indian art will also be held.

On October 5, the College of Art and Craft, Patna, and Premchand Rangshala will host a Tagore children’s painting workshop, folk art presentations, a procession and a theatrical performance. On October 6, participants will visit the historic heritage sites of Nalanda and Rajgir. The second phase of the Vishwarang programme will be held in Nalanda on October 7 and 8 in association with Nalanda University.

On October 8, dialogues will focus on Indian linguistic cultural consciousness and threads of unity, the inner resonance of languages in eastern and northeastern states, the linguistic and cultural influence of Buddhist philosophy in South Asian countries, and from Nalanda to a new economic consciousness – trade, culture and sustainable development. A multilingual poetry reading will also be a major attraction, featuring creators from various Indian languages including Hindi, Urdu, English, Marathi, Odia and Assamese.

Representatives of several major educational institutions will participate in the programme, including Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal; Nalanda University; C.V. Raman University, Vaishali; AISECT University, Hazaribag; Scope Global Skills University, Bhopal; C.V. Raman University, Bilaspur and Khandwa; Gauhati University; IIT Kharagpur; Tripura University; Mizoram University; Delhi University; IGNOU; Calcutta University; FTII; and Amity University. From the fields of literature and culture, several writers and thinkers, including Arun Kamal, Alka Saraogi, A. Aravindakshan, Devendra Raj Ankur, Jitendra Srivastava, Jayant Parmar, Prafull Shiledar, Yatindra Mishra, Soma Bandyopadhyay and Anant Vijay, will be present at the programme.
