CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The world-renowned festival “Vishwarang”, which presents Indian literature, arts, and culture in a global perspective, will be held this year on 29th and 30th September 2025 in Sri Lanka. The event is being organized under the joint auspices of Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, the Vishwarang Foundation, and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Indian High Commission, Colombo.

This two-day international event will be inaugurated in the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo. The chief guest of the inaugural session will be Mr. Santosh Jha, Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, while Director Hinidamu Sunil Senevi, Minister of Buddhist Affairs, Religious & Cultural Affairs, Sri Lanka, and Director Pawan Verma, former Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), will participate as distinguished guests. The program will be chaired by Santosh Chaubey, Director of Vishwarang.

The event will feature prominent scholars, writers, and artists from South and Southeast Asian countries. Various sessions will discuss topics such as the landscape of Indian languages and literature, cultural coordination, comparative studies of folk literature, possibilities of teaching Hindi through online platforms, and employment opportunities in Hindi.

Additionally, there will be a Poets’ Conclave of South Asian countries, cultural performances, and student gatherings. Scholars and creators from 10 countries including India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar, and Thailand will actively participate. The closing session will feature an international poetry reading by senior literary figures. During the event, Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) will be signed by Rabindranath Tagore University with Colombo University and institutions working on Hindi to promote the language.

To globally promote Hindi and connect the younger generation with it, the Vishwarang Foundation (India), Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, and Vanmali Srijan Peeth will jointly organize the Vishwarang International Hindi Olympiad 2025. This event will be held in 65 countries including India, from Hindi Day up to 30th September (International Translation Day), culminating at Vishwarang Sri Lanka.

The concept of Vishwarang was envisioned by its founder, Santosh Chaubey, who states that the aim of Vishwarang is to establish Indian literature, arts, and culture on a global platform and connect the new generation to their roots while linking them to the stream of international dialogue. The event in Sri Lanka marks a significant step in this direction.
