Sunil Lodhi, a resident of the small village of Agra in Sagar district, is visually impaired, but his Bundeli folk singing and devotional songs have taken him from social media to Bollywood.
Sunil first gained wide recognition through the bhajan “More Sankat Ke Kataiya Hanuman”. A reel of the bhajan, sung in the Bundeli style, went viral on social media and quickly earned him lakhs of admirers. According to recent reports, the video of the song has received more than 3 crore views on YouTube.
Sunil’s journey with music began with the tamura. His association with music goes back to childhood. Sitting with elders in the village, he learned to play the tamura and later began singing folk songs and bhajans with an ektara. His singing reflects the simplicity of the Bundeli folk language and a deep devotional feeling.

According to a report, the film’s director Vishal Chaturvedi selected him for the song after listening to several of his folk songs, and the recording was also completed in a very short time.
