CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The General Manager of West Central Railway, Shobhana Bandyopadhyay, inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp and garlanding the statue of Goddess Saraswati. Inspired by her initiative, the event aimed to foster the holistic development of students and enhance their talents.

Competition Highlights and Key Attractions

The inter-divisional railway school cultural and sports competition, “Viyan 2024,” saw enthusiastic participation from students of four major railway schools under the West Central Railway zone—New Katni, Gangapur City, Jabalpur, and Itarsi. The event featured a variety of sports and cultural activities where students showcased their skills and creativity.

Sports competitions included individual events like the 100-meter race, 200-meter race, 4×100 relay race, high jump, and long jump, alongside team sports such as kabaddi, volleyball, and football. Both junior and senior boys and girls demonstrated their excellence in these events.

Cultural events like solo dance, singing, group singing, group dance, and dramas added vibrant colors to the event, highlighting the students’ artistic abilities and teamwork.

Closing Ceremony and Recognition

The General Manager honored the winners with medals and certificates of appreciation. In her address, she emphasized that such competitions not only encourage students’ talents but also cultivate essential qualities like discipline, confidence, and teamwork.

During the closing ceremony, Shobhana Bandyopadhyay graced the event as the chief guest. Also in attendance were Divisional Railway Manager of Bhopal Devashish Tripathi, Principal Chief Personnel Officer Prabhat, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer Vijay Singh, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (TRS) Itarsi Neeraj Kumar Sharma, and other senior officials.

A large number of teachers, students, and their families attended the event. It provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their talents in a motivational and supportive environment.
