CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The “Wash on Wheels” initiative, launched under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) in Phanda Janpad Panchayat, has brought about a positive transformation not only in sanitation services but also in the lives of rural youth. Started a few months ago, this innovative initiative aims to make sanitation services easily accessible in rural areas while also connecting youth with employment opportunities.

Under this initiative, young individuals such as Ravi Shravan, Vishesh Nihoriya, Brijesh Khare, and Vijay from village Bagroda were selected as Sanitation Partners. They were provided with the necessary training and equipment, after which they began going door-to-door in rural areas to clean toilets, provide sanitation-related services, and spread awareness about cleanliness.

Sanitation partner Ravi Shravan shared that earlier he faced financial difficulties, but now he has become self-reliant by earning ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 per day. His success story is also becoming a source of inspiration for other youths.

Asha Rai, an employee of Phanda Janpad Panchayat, informed that so far 110 people have been registered under this initiative, out of which 87 tasks have been successfully completed. She added that efforts are being made to further expand the initiative by coordinating with all gram panchayats of the block.

At present, the Wash on Wheels initiative is not only promoting cleanliness but is also empowering rural youth by linking them with self-employment opportunities. It is emerging as a strong example of sanitation, employment, and social transformation.
