CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of the 70th Foundation Day of the state, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched the mobile app for the Wash on Wheels (WoW) initiative and formally rolled it out for implementation across all districts of the state.

In Bhopal district, the Wash on Wheels (WoW) initiative is being successfully implemented in the Janpad Panchayats of Phanda and Berasia under the leadership of District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ila Tiwari, giving a new identity to rural sanitation. Earlier, due to irregular cleaning and unhygienic conditions, many community and institutional toilets were not being properly utilized. However, with the implementation of Wash on Wheels, awareness regarding rural sanitation has significantly increased among the public.

Within the district, all 479 villages have been divided into 19 clusters, and 10 Swachhta Saathis (sanitation associates) have been appointed and assigned cluster responsibilities. So far, a total demand for cleaning 615 community, institutional, and household toilets has been registered in Bhopal district. Out of these, 331 community, institutional, and household toilets have been cleaned by the Swachhta Saathis, who have collectively earned ₹62,250 through this work. This initiative has provided employment opportunities as well as dignity to the Swachhta Saathis associated with the program.

For regular monitoring, flying squads have been appointed at the Janpad level to supervise the implementation of the Wash on Wheels (WoW) initiative across the district.
