CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan–2026 has been launched in all districts of the Bhopal Division. Under this campaign, large-scale public awareness activities are being carried out in both rural and urban areas to promote water conservation. At the same time, priority is being given to the cleaning, repair, and restoration of water structures.

In Bhopal district, a shramdaan (voluntary labor) program was organized at Kerwa Dam to raise awareness among citizens about water conservation. In Tarawali Kalan village of Berasia, under the “Jal Shakti se Nav Bhakti” initiative, tree worship was performed and a water conservation action plan was prepared. The Municipal Corporation is working towards the revival of 22 historical stepwells in the city and the conservation of the Kolans River.

In Raisen district, construction, repair, and groundwater recharge works are being undertaken through public participation. In the district, rooftop rainwater harvesting systems are being installed in 3,909 private buildings, recharge pits are being constructed near 2,800 hand pumps, and water conservation structures are being developed in 950 government buildings. Overall, more than 10,000 works are being carried out to strengthen water conservation efforts.

In Vidisha district, water conservation has been transformed into a mass movement through multi-departmental coordination. Departments such as Panchayat, Urban Administration, Forest, and Water Resources are jointly undertaking works like ponds, canals, check dams, and rainwater harvesting. A special plan is also being prepared for the rejuvenation of the Betwa River.

In Rajgarh and Sehore districts as well, collectors and public representatives are promoting the message of water conservation through shramdaan. Efforts such as cleaning, deepening, and developing new water structures in wells, ponds, and rivers are being carried out.

Overall, this campaign is emerging as a strong initiative towards addressing water scarcity, environmental protection, and sustainable development through public participation and coordinated efforts.
