CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of World Water Day, a Workshop and Awareness Training on Water Conservation was organized by the Department of Geology, Barkatullah University. The event was coordinated and hosted by Vinisha Singh, who welcomed all the dignitaries and conducted the session.

The objective of the workshop was to raise awareness about water conservation and the importance of glacier water management.

The chief guest, Ravi Sinha, retired Director of the Geological Survey of India, emphasized that the melting of glaciers is a sign of a serious environmental crisis.

Workshop coordinator and Head of the Geology Department, Vinisha Singh, stated that the world is facing a growing water crisis. Glaciers are melting, worsening the situation. She warned that if immediate attention is not paid to water conservation today, the world may face grave consequences in the near future. Therefore, both water and glacier conservation are essential to protect the environment.

Special guest, Joint Director of Agriculture Department, A.K. Nema, stressed the importance of traditional methods of water and soil conservation in tackling environmental challenges.

C.G.W.B. scientist, Harishankar Namdeo, explained the significance of geophysical survey techniques for water resources. A.K. Vishwakarma, Director of Amay Foundation, and V.K. Parashar, retired from Motilal Vigyan Mahavidyalaya, also emphasized the need for collective efforts in conserving water.

An awareness poster/exhibition on water conservation was also displayed for students.

The program was attended by dignitaries including Dr. Harshalata Vishwakarma from VIT Sehore, GSI Scientist and Director Dinesh Kumar Umak, university professors, and students. Around 80 participants actively took part in the workshop.
