On the occasion of World Water Day 2026, an impactful awareness program on “Water and Gender Equality” was organized at the banks of the Banh River in Village Tarawali, Berasia. The event was conducted by the C.V. Raman Centre for Science Communication at Rabindranath Tagore University in collaboration with the NSS unit.
The program was attended by SDM Ashutosh Sharma, Executive Engineer of PWD A.K. Ahirwar, the village sarpanch, and a large number of local residents. It was organized under the “Know Madhya Pradesh Campaign” under the guidance of Gabbar Singh, NSS Program Coordinator, and Preeti Singh, Coordinator of the C.V. Raman Centre for Science Communication. Students, faculty members, and villagers participated enthusiastically.
During the program, participants conducted an on-site observation of the Banh River. While the river remains full during the monsoon season, it dries up after the rains, highlighting the severe water crisis in the region. Experts discussed in detail the scientific reasons behind this phenomenon and suggested effective measures for water conservation.
