CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A high-level meeting was held at Hotel Palash to review development projects being implemented across various regions of Madhya Pradesh under the Urban Development and Housing Department through the Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company. The meeting was chaired by Commissioner and Managing Director Sanket Bhondwe, who emphasized that no laxity will be tolerated at any level in ongoing development works.
The session included a detailed analysis of the physical and financial progress of water supply schemes in 46 towns and sewerage projects in three towns. Bhondwe directed that in towns where new water supply systems are operational, old tubewells must be immediately decommissioned to conserve groundwater. He stressed the incorporation of modern technology in smart metering and environmental protection, mandating the installation of at least 5% smart water meters.
Instructions were also given to develop the premises of water treatment plants and sewage treatment plants into green areas and to ensure full tree plantation entries on the My Life Portal. Highlighting the importance of construction quality, he warned that special attention must be paid to road restoration after pipeline laying, and strict action will be taken against contractors in case of deficiencies.
Project managers were instructed to maintain continuous coordination with municipal authorities and public representatives, ensure worker safety at construction sites, implement barricading, and manage traffic diversion. Additional Managing Director Divyang Singh emphasized community participation and effective remediation measures, while Chief Engineer Shailendra Shukla presented a detailed status report of the projects.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Engineer Anand Singh, project managers from various districts, experts from consulting firms, and representatives of contracting agencies. Through this meeting, a firm commitment was made to ensure transparency, quality, and timely implementation of urban development projects across Madhya Pradesh.
