CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: New Delhi. Rain-related waterlogging at several places and mud across Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan have created a fresh challenge for preparations for the Opposition alliance’s rally proposed for November 1. After visuals of waterlogging at the ground surfaced, questions have begun to be raised over the arrangements for the event. However, preparations for the rally are continuing, and the organisers are working to hold the programme as scheduled.

A major rally will be organised at Ramlila Maidan on November 1 by the INDIA alliance under the leadership of the Congress. Leaders and workers of Opposition parties are expected to take part in the programme. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has appealed through social media to people, students and citizens who support raising their voice for the protection of democracy and the Constitution to join the rally.

Rahul Gandhi has described the event as a campaign linked to the defence of democracy, protest against alleged vote theft and protection of the Constitution. The Opposition alliance has also made the special intensive revision of the voter list (SIR), alleged irregularities in the electoral process, and the accountability and resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar key issues.

Delhi Police has granted permission for the rally from 10 am to 5 pm with conditions. The organisers will have to arrange security, CCTV monitoring, drinking water, toilets and crowd management. If the rain continues, the condition of the ground may become an additional challenge for the event arrangements.
