CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A total of 1,056 working women and female domestic workers received health check-ups during special health camps organized for them. These camps were set up at 21 different locations by the Chief Medical and Health Officer’s Office, Bhopal, to mark International Labour Day.
The camps were scheduled from 1:00 PM onwards to suit the convenience of working women, who enthusiastically availed the health services offered. The camps also provided information about various government welfare schemes.
Specialized services included gynecology and obstetrics consultation, vaccination, high-risk identification, and nutrition counseling. Iron and folic acid tablets were distributed to combat anemia, along with instructions for proper consumption.
Out of 646 women screened for high blood pressure, 59 were found to have elevated levels. Among 628 women tested for diabetes, 42 showed elevated blood sugar levels. These individuals will be tagged to the nearest health centers for regular check-ups and medical treatment as per physician advice.
In the camps, 104 ABHA IDs and 25 Ayushman cards were generated. 68 pregnant women underwent check-ups, and 42 children received vaccinations.
For the first time, the District Health Department of Bhopal has taken a new initiative by organizing camps specifically focused on the health of working and labor-class women. Previously, health services were extended to underserved populations from various sectors. Many working women, due to their busy schedules, are unable to pay attention to their own health and nutrition. These camps have been designed especially with them in mind.
Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bhopal, stated that the camps were organized during convenient hours to ensure working women could benefit. The initiative was met with enthusiastic participation, and such camps will now be held every Thursday.
