CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: West Central Railway’s CRWS Factory in Bhopal Achieves Historic Milestone in Coach Overhauling

Under the guidance of General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay, the CRWS (Carriage Repair Workshop) factory in Bhopal, part of the West Central Railway, achieved an outstanding performance in the financial year 2024-25 by successfully completing the periodic overhauling (POH) of 1,369 coaches. This remarkable achievement sets a new record in the history of West Central Railway, reflecting its efficiency and commitment.

This target was accomplished due to the efficient leadership and continuous supervision of General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay. Across the entire West Central Railway, a total of 8,307 coaches and wagons were overhauled this fiscal year—exceeding the Railway Board’s target of 7,968 by 4%.

In this achievement, the CRWS factory in Bhopal maintained 1,369 coaches, while the WRS factory in Kota successfully repaired 6,938 wagons. This marks the best-ever performance of both workshops to date.

During the overhauling process at the Bhopal factory, crucial maintenance tasks were carried out, including repairs of coach bodies and undergear, reconstruction of trolley and bogie parts, and servicing of essential components like the air brake system, buffers, wheels, and axles. These improvements have significantly enhanced the safety and reliability of the coaches, ensuring a safer and more comfortable travel experience for passengers.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria stated, “The contribution of the Bhopal workshop not only helps in maintaining the high technical standards of the railway but also plays a crucial role in ensuring passenger safety and satisfaction. This achievement is a matter of pride for the entire Bhopal division.”
