CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : West Central Railway’s Bhopal Division has taken a significant step toward technological innovation by developing a software named Speedo Vision. This software analyzes the locomotive pilot’s speedometer data within seconds and generates accurate and graphical driving reports. The initiative aims to ensure passenger safety, bring transparency in operations, and increase accountability in the working of loco pilots.
Speedo Vision was developed in just one month by Chief Loco Inspector Surendra Srivastava under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Devashish Tripathi and Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer Sachin Sharma. It was officially launched by General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay at the Guna Crew Lobby.
The software rapidly processes Excel data obtained from the locomotive speedometer and analyzes key parameters such as overspeed, braking patterns, feel test, etc. On average, 13 floppies are reviewed daily and around 400 data points monthly in the Bhopal Division.
In the June 2025 review, only 8 out of 400 cases showed irregularities, which were referred for counseling. The software also allows reports to be shared via Gmail and WhatsApp.
Speedo Vision marks a major and exemplary step towards enhancing digital efficiency, safety, and accountability within Indian Railways.
