CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Considering the country’s growing transportation needs, Indian Railways is currently working rapidly on expanding its infrastructure and increasing capacity. In this context, the Construction Department of Western Central Railway has prepared a booklet titled “Safety and Quality Inspection Checklist” to ensure the quality and safety of construction works.
The booklet was formally released by General Manager Shobhana Bandopadhyay. It presents a consolidated list of essential safety and quality checkpoints for various construction items. Its purpose is to ensure that fast-paced construction activities are carried out without any lapses and fully comply with the prescribed standards.
According to railway officials, this booklet will serve as a ready reckoner for field supervisors, inspection officers, contractors, and officers in the PMC/PSSA areas. It is expected not only to improve the quality of work at construction sites but also to enhance safety vigilance. During high-speed construction, there is often a risk of overlooking quality and safety. This booklet has been designed specifically to prevent such lapses. It provides a point-wise checklist based on the Indian Railways Construction Manual, Railway Board instructions, and other relevant guidelines.
The release ceremony was attended by Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) M. S. Hashmi, Secretary General Manager Rahul Jaipuriar, and other senior officials. The officials expressed confidence that this initiative will serve as a milestone in making railway construction work safer, more efficient, and more transparent.
