CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: India’s white-collar job market recorded strong momentum during August 2026. According to the Naukri JobSpeak Index, hiring for professional jobs rose 14 percent year-on-year in August. The index climbed to 3,028 from 2,664 in August 2025. However, compared with July’s 3,227, it recorded a 6 percent month-on-month decline.
The picture was also better for freshers. Hiring of candidates with up to three years of experience rose 15 percent year-on-year. Fresher hiring in the insurance sector alone increased 37 percent. Demand for professionals with 4-7 years of experience rose 10 percent, while hiring for those with 8-12 years of experience increased 16 percent and for those with 13-16 years of experience rose 18 percent.
By sector, hiring in auto and auto ancillary increased 19 percent, while healthcare grew 16 percent and retail 15 percent. IT recorded 11 percent growth, and roles linked to AI and machine learning saw a 31 percent rise.
However, the report advised that the figures should be interpreted with caution, taking into account changes in the timing of the festive season.
