CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Amid a dispute over media access between US President Donald Trump’s administration and major American news organisations, the White House has launched a 24-hour digital streaming platform called “Trump TV: The Essentials Station.” The platform is carrying administration announcements, Trump’s speeches, public events and archived videos.
“Trump TV” began on September 21. According to the White House, the stream will be updated continuously and will include videos of the administration’s key events and the President’s public addresses. The broadcast has been made available through the White House’s official website and YouTube channel.
The move comes at a time when ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and NBC, which are part of the White House TV pool, have temporarily halted shared television coverage of the President’s events. The decision came after the administration blocked White House access rights for CNN, MS NOW and Politico.
The networks say independent and shared coverage of the President’s events is important for the public. The Trump administration, meanwhile, has defended its decision, accusing media organisations of unfair or inaccurate reporting. CNN, MS NOW and Politico have also approached a federal court over the matter.
