CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: After India’s victory in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026, a controversy has erupted once again over Mohsin Naqvi. The question being raised is who invited Pakistan’s Home Minister and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi to present the Asia Cup trophy. According to reports, information had emerged that Naqvi was invited by the ACC as the chief guest for the closing ceremony.

India had already made its stand clear. Before the tournament, the BCCI had informed the ACC that the Indian team would not accept the trophy from the hands of a Pakistani official holding a political position. Despite this, Naqvi was present at the presentation ceremony after the final.

India won the Women’s Asia Cup title by defeating Sri Lanka, but the Indian players stayed away from the presentation ceremony instead of receiving the trophy from Naqvi. BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia also said the board’s decision had already been decided. Coach Amol Muzumdar supported this position.

The controversy also brings back memories of the 2025 Men’s Asia Cup incident, when the Indian team had refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi.
